In one milliliter (ml) of essential oil there are about 15/20 drops, depending on the density of each individual oil. In most cases, the amount of drops used is extremely small so an 8ml bottle can last a long time. Furthermore, the process of extracting essential oil is complex: this makes them expensive and it is advisable to use them sparingly.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Are there essential oils from all plants?”]
No, in fact there are very few, a few hundred compared to the billions of plant varieties.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why do essential oils all have different prices?”]
Because each plant has a different yield.
A borderline case is the rose; to obtain 1 kg of essential oil you start with 7000 kg of petals picked before dawn. But other flowers are even worse. Other oils, such as lavender for example, are much more abundant in yield. You also have to take into account that there are plants that are easier to grow and others that are more complicated.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why are essential oils so expensive?”]
Because they are extracted in small quantities from large selected plant masses, an extreme example is that of the rose where, from 6 tons of flowers, one liter of essential oil is extracted. Furthermore, in high quality essential oils the harvest is manual.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”How do I recognize the quality of an essential oil?”]
Having a good educated nose, and this is not easy.
It is easier to follow the rules for purchasing that all oils have different prices, that they are not excessively cheap, that the labels indicate the production date, origin, extraction method, part of the plant processed, and expiration date.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”What is an aromatic water?”]
Aromatic water is the by-product of the distillation of an essential oil. It is nothing more than the water used during the process of distilling essential oils in a current of steam which is then carefully separated from the latter.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”What do aromatic waters have to do with essential oils?”]
Aromatic waters are obtained during the distillation process together with oils.
They are distilled water, condensed steam that has extracted the essential oil from the plant mass through heat. The aromatic water is saturated with the essential oil that it has extracted.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why should essential oils be kept in the dark?”]
Because most of the molecules that compose them are volatile and light and heat accelerate the deterioration process.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why do we deliver essential oils in a tube?”]
As explained here, essential oils are photophobic, many manufacturers prefer to store them in dark glass bottles. Ours are in a transparent bottle to appreciate the color but protected from light by a cardboard tube.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why do essential oils act on the emotional/psychosomatic sphere?”]
Because each oil, with its scent, acts on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, triggering cascade reactions on the hormonal and neurological system.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why essential oils should not be heated?”]
Many of the molecules that compose them are extremely volatile. Heat modifies them and accelerates their dispersion.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Why can’t essential oils be used pure?”]
Because they are powerful and because of their high concentration they can cause allergic reactions or irritate the skin, they are used in drops, diluting them is necessary to spread them on the skin. Here are our instructions and precautions.
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”What is the difference between a vegetable oil and an essential oil?”]
A vegetable oil is obtained by pressing the seeds, an essential oil by distilling various parts of the plant, leaves, flowers, wood or roots. The exception is citrus fruits which are obtained by pressing the peel.
